The Sacramento Values Project public art project stenciled text in parking lots 2012-2013
The Values Project helps communities connect to their values, choose values words, like Honor and Compassion, and helps them share them by painting the words in parking spaces throughout a city.
Values might be the most core thing we all share in common, transcending race, gender, nationality or creed, and this project seeks to understand the values that are represented in these different communities.
In Napa over 500 value words were painted in 63 parking lots for schools, businesses, churches, hospitals and non-profits. The project was installed entirely by volunteers, bringing over 140 folks together in parking lots in the middle of the night. Extensions of this project include values workshops in schools and community organizations, interactive elements online and a series of videos featuring installations and workshops.
The Values Project is designed to be rolled out in multiple communities across the nation. We are working in Sacramento, CA to bring it to that city. Currently we have two non-profit partners, the Sacramento Boys & Girls Club and W.E.A.V.E, and are on track to have their lots painted by this November.
We are working to paint values words in over 900 parking spaces throughout Sacramento over the next year.
Become a part of it by acting as a local liaison to collaborate on bringing it to your city. LEARN MORE AT WWW.THEVALUESPROJECT.ORG, OR GO HERE

Fundraising for the Sacramento Values Project
We've begun fundraising for the Sacramento Values Project. This past summer we raised over $3000.00 with a RocketHub campaign, which will allow me to hold workshops and paint 50 words in the parking lots of 5 non-profits this fall.
We need to raise more funds to finish the job next summer, so please donate what you can; 100% of the funds I receive will go towards painting words on the pavement!
Please go to the project's fiscal sponsor--www.FracturedAtlas.org--to donate now (The Values Project is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. Contributions for the purposes of The Values Project must be made payable to Fractured Atlas and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.).
